IUNG-PIB - Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation, State Research Institute, Poland
The Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation (IUNG-PIB) – State Research Institute is one of the largest agricultural research-development centres in Poland. Currently, IUNG-PIB has the status of a state research institute operating under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The Institute has greatly contributed to agricultural and agri-environmental progress in research. The research conducted covers a wide range of issues relating to crop production and the impact of agriculture on the environment. In the field of environmental research, the Institute has the largest agrometeorological, soil and environmental databases in Poland. The multi-factorial comparison of different farming systems has been one of its more important research activities in the last years.
Role in the project
In work package 1, IUNG-PIB will conduct interviews with key actors involved in crop diversification. In work package 2, it will coordinate the Polish case study. It will also provide field measurements from a long-term experiment, test new rape and flax diversification solutions in the case study, such as catch crops. In work package 7, it will participate in dissemination.
