UCL - Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium
The Université catholique de Louvain UCL was founded in 1425. It is the main university in the French-speaking part of Belgium. It has 33,000 students and more than 5,000 members of staff.
The participating department is the Earth & Science Institute (ELI). The institute is the largest research institute at the University of Louvain (more than 300 scientists). The main objective of ELI is the understanding of the basic processes of the Earth & Life System at different scales and designing sustainable solutions to tackle major challenges of our society.
Role in the project
Considering its expertise in the interaction of natural and social sciences, UCL will be in charge of coordinating work package 5.
